user a choice of five different methods of erasure to
satisfy a variety of needs. The methods of erasure differ
in number of times a file is overwritten and in type of
overwriting process used. These methods guarantee maximum
security, whatever your need. In addition to the standardized
methods of erasure from the U.S. Department of Defense
(DoD) and the Bundesamt fur Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik
(BSI, German information security agency), you can choose
the Gutmann method, which is appropriate for matters requiring
the highest security. This scientifically approved method
of data erasure overwrites the appropriate corresponding
areas of the hard disk 35 times following precisely defined
rules. In this way, O&O SafeErase exceeds the requirements
of DoD and BSI. |
